DIY

this is really gimp i know, but i wanted something festive for Christmas and I've had that wired ribbon for years.
birch tree bark around a glass vase, super easy to make

this lamp was so much fun to make. we find a lot of birch trees fallen on the ground and the bark comes off so easily, never strip a live tree please. We split the back and put a tube in it and solar powered little lights inside, it gives off a great effect thru all the little holes too.

I had to revamp a sun-proof curtain to fit the odd size window in the tower. We found the wood for the toggles and smoothed them out. I am privy to discarded leather pieces for free and I was into orange this year. I want to sew the toggle on differently.

festive little candle holder made from a jelly jar and dicarded paper. I made these originally for a "full moon party" that we had at our park.  I wanted to put safe, wind-proof candles all around.

I found this pair of nighstands thrown away just under my house and we didn't have any so they've come in real handy. I loved the pattern in the wood so I didn't want to just paint over them but they looked pretty dirty even after a good clean and light sanding.

So I went for the shiny radica wood look you see in Rolls Royces.

The grain REEEEEALLY came out with a hi-gloss finish. My guy wanted me to change the handles but I like them. And I kept off the back board thingy. I prefer the cleaner line like this. Cost about $10 to refinish. They're not my dream bedside tables but they're great temps.
